Serving Coke & Sandwiches with No Electricity

We'd like to shine a light on Paul and his gang at the Hwy 30 Diner in Cedar Rapids.

After the Derecho storm hit on Monday, August 10th, power went out at his business like so many others in the community.

A few electrical linemen pre-ordered breakfast sandwiches for a long day ahead. Paul committed fulfill the orders no matter what.

Even with no power, Paul and his crew made sandwiches by flashlight starting at 3am!

They were so good - orders kept growing every morning until a crew of over 130 linemen from far away as New York, Denmark, and Canada were served by Hwy 30 Diner.

We thank Paul and the team whose commitment and creative efforts helped serve the front-line workers who supported those impacted by the storm.
